Musical Musings: You are Invited!

“Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy… In the restoration and promotion of the sacred liturgy, this full and active participation by all the people is the aim to be considered before all else.”
~ Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, 14

The liturgy of the Mass is not a spectator sport, but an interactive work by the people of God, for the people of God. The word “liturgy” literally means “the work of the people.” We need you to enrich our Mass experience! Our participation in the hymns, responses, and other prayers of the Mass are important to God, to the Church, and to our fellow parishioners. Your voice matters! And it’s not about your ability, or your talent – all we ask is for you. “Full and active participation by all the people is the aim,” not just the gifted or the well-educated musicians, but ALL the people.

Please accept this invitation to participate more fully, more actively, in our parish’s music ministry. If you are interested in singing in the choir, leading the congregation as a cantor, or enriching our liturgy as an instrumentalist, email Shawn Gelzleichter at sgelzleichter@gmail.com or call the rectory at 781-662-8844.
